I am from a small town about 35 min from Texas Christian University most people don't know of. I grew up with a lot of nature surrounding me I spent most of my days playing outside and such. I now identify my self being from TCU because I spend most of my time here either taking classes or with friends.

Hi! Im Alexa Vargas I was born and raised in Fort Worth TX been here ever since. I am currently a student at texas christian university. My major is in psychology and minoring in social work. On my time off I enjoy baking and reading recipes and watching baking shows.

Self esteem: In the research it's concluded that self esteem was risen when exercise enhanced mood and put minds in a more positive state. Also the ability to do a task enhanced self esteem.

Mastery: Research shows the feeling of satisfaction can also be a result of mental health effects when exercising. As the feeling of depression, helplessness have been associated with failure the opposite is opposed when exercising leadings to a decrease in anxiety depression and self worth.

Distraction effect: Research indicates exercise and mental health is determined as a distraction from stress inducing conditions. Functioning as a “Time out “ from daily stress.
The article focused on the improvements of depression, anxiety and self worth when participating in exercise. They conducted and pulled many experimental and correlational studies. Which all supported the fact that exercise has long term great effects on mental health. The three main topics on the article included self esteem, mastery and distraction effects.
Dr. Salazars study looked at the effect on state anxiety, whether the exercise was short or long term effect sizes in reduction of anxiety were present.
